Welcome to Ballimore Farm Estate
Scottish Country Retreat with House, Cottage and Lodge in Argyll
Going on holiday is exciting but can often be a stressful experience for the one organising it.
From agreeing on suitable dates to finding the right accommodation, suitable for grandma as well as for the teen agers and the two year old nephew can be difficult and getting a variety of opinions to take into consideration, but still make everyone happy is a tall task.
Throughout the last 10 years Ballimore Farm Estate has had a large number of family groups, reunions, anniversary and birthday parties as well as stag and hen parties and small wedding groups, and we see that for those organising the holiday, arriving at the destination is often a stressful experience.
After a long drive, on often unfamiliar roads, it is important that our guests arrive at their destination and immediately relax and for those we three have different properties to suit your group size and budget:
The Cottage at Ballimore Farm Estate has one double bedroom with a sofa bed in the open plan lounge with woodturning stove. It is the perfect couples’ retreat for people of all ages or small families with children that want to get away to to enjoy the peaceful tranquility within this beautiful remote setting.
waking up to the view of snow topped mountains, sunlight glinting off the Loch and Highland cows emerging out of the low lying mist in the paddocks…
…this beautiful Scottish country retreat sits in thousands of acres of glorious landscape in Argyll at the West Coast of Scotland, with a 3700ft munro as its impressive backdrop.
Ballimore Main House, Cottage and Lodge are 1.5miles from Kilchrenan and 5 miles from Taynuilt, Oban is a short drive away and Glasgow Airport is 1.5 hours South.
Ballimore Farm Estate is a family run working farm, offering self-catering accommodation for different tastes and budgets. Guests will meet our Highland Cattle fold, Hebridean Sheep and Blackfaced Sheep flocks on our fields when walking or driving through the Estate. Local wildlife includes buzzards, eagles, ospreys, hen harriers, black grouses, whooper swans and canada geese but also red squirrels, pine martins, foxes, red deer, otters, minx and wild cats. Regular seasonal visitors around the house include cuckoos, swifts and swallows.
Ballimore Main House and Cottage were built using eco-friendly and energy efficient technologies. With our own wind turbine, reedbeds, solar fans, wood stoves and air sourced heat pump, we aim to use the least main-grid electricity as possible and encourage our guests to do the same.
The wood we use for burning is provided by our own timber forest. The water for the properties comes from our own spring on the hill.
TThe Main House offers a modern interior with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a library, south facing terrace and a heated indoor swimming pool, comfortably accommodating 10-14 people. The well-equipped large one bedroom Cottage is perfect for small families and Lodge accommodates six people comfortably.
All the properties on the farm can be rented individually or as a whole, depending on the time of year and availability.
